Roberts, one of my debtors sold his car an paid me my 75 rocks. The way he did it tho’-he had a check for 350 and took it to the bank for cash. The bank had been closed for 2 hours, but he
barged right in--a man accosted him and asked his business. Naturally this chap, after explanations said ‘raus mit du. Not touched by the tale, m’friend asked if he was in charge around thar. The lil man gave a negative answer, and whistled for the next above. Well, this gent got tissy, so Roberts asked to see the president (of the bank)--he did.
The president, seemingly the only decent man around, sent his runner off on the double to get cash. Even showed a pic of himself in the war to end wars, (I) as a coolie soldier. Nice guy, bofum, cuz they payed. The other thing, was watching an instructor sew a long rip in his shirt. He stitched for about 20 minutes, then stood up and showed me his handiwork. Neatly executed until it came to where the belt crosses--from there on down, big rip remained.--That money, spent 12 for clothes, (waste) payed 40 dollar radio debt, an am sending 20 to my banker.(you) If this chief sends the 50, will put another C note to you payday.
